For over 35 years, our Rolling Landscapes team has been working together enriching the lives of our clients by creating enjoyable outdoor spaces.  We are proud to be a family-owned business and more importantly, we are proud of our team of talented landscape architects, landscape designers, masons and installers offering a true end-to-end design-build experience.

Matt Culligan, RLA, ASLA

Proprietor, Matt Culligan is a registered landscape architect, contractor, and businessman.  He received his BA in Landscape Architecture from the University of Illinois, Champaign in 1987 and founded Rolling Landscapes, Inc.

  • I recently had Rolling Landscapes do extensive work on my back yard, which involved the demolition of a small structure, removal of a fence, cutting down an area of overgrowth and stump removal. Matt Culligan runs a first-class business. He designed a perfect plan and a few days later the work began. There was so much to do, yet I was amazed that there was never any downtime between jobs and I have never seen such hard workers. I was impressed that Dustin was in touch with me every morning and told me what to expect. No surprises, No delays, No problems. Everything went like clockwork. I would highly recommend Rolling Landscapes to anyone who appreciates doing business with a high-quality company. They did excellent work and l am thoroughly satisfied with my new back yard!

  • I recently had the pleasure of working with Rolling Landscapes to transform my landscape as part of a total home remodel. The results were fantastic! Matt, the owner and head landscape architect, worked closely with us to create a plan that perfectly complemented the home interior and exterior spaces. His vision and attention to detail were impressive. Even my interior designer had no revisions! Dustin, the project manager, kept me informed and on schedule to complete the landscape project well before the interior work was completed. He worked with Rigo and their installation teams to complete the drainage, hardscapes and planting. Both Dustin and Rigo were professional and efficient throughout the process, organizing not only their own in-house teams of workers but subcontractors as well (including masonry, irrigation, electrical and low-voltage lighting). They ensured everything was executed to perfection and in a timely manner. The finished spaces are beautiful, functional, and well-crafted, with thoughtful touches like placement of ornamental trees, a fountain and night lighting throughout. The price was very reasonable for the excellent work and services provided. I highly recommend this team for anyone looking to completely transform their outdoor space.

  • We were first struck by Rolling Landscapes work in our friends' yard. They highly recommended working with Matt, Dustin, and their crew. Communication throughout the project was great. Their keen knowledge of design, drainage, and horticulture was clear. They worked to help the village understand our plan. The crew was efficient and masterful. We are amazed by the transformation of our yard! We appreciate the follow-up after project completion to make sure all was well. Now our friends and neighbors are interested in Rolling Landscapes, too.

  • Matt and company did a tremendous job transforming our backyard. Rolling landscapes completed the project within the stated time frame, completed project as stated in the initial landscape drawings and fulfilled all our expectations. They were both punctual, hard working and attentive in answering all our questions and concerns as they undertook a massive landscaping project. The work included a new expanded blue stone patio, grill, lawn and many new plantings. My wife and I were both shocked by how beautiful our new lawn is and look forward to many fond memories in the area thanks to Matt and Rolling landscapes.

Matt patiently worked with us through numerous design changes (our requests) and delays (village and other contractors) to not only create a vision for our space, but to see it through to the entirety. The team does high quality work, leaves the area impeccably clean and in my opinion the extremely efficiently from the day the first shovel hit the ground. Matt has an incredible eye and knowledge of what will best suite your project's goals and fit your space appropriately. All questions I had were answered immediately and to my complete understanding and satisfaction. When it was finished I was and still am over the moon!!!   • From the beginning of this project until the end, Matt and his crew did an amazing job! They were responsive, hard-working, and agreeable to any changes we wanted to make throughout the entire project. We were having a hard time locking down a landscaping company to agree to what we wanted to be done.   • We contacted Rolling Landscapes to help us create a more private space in our narrow, walkout, new build lot. Matt came to our house to assess our goals, drainage concerns and budget. He followed up within a few weeks, with schematic drawings that fit our needs. What we really appreciated, was that the drawings allowed for phases of implementation, which helped meet our budgetary needs. Once the weather broke, Matt and his team were efficient in getting the custom fence installed and the plantings in the ground. We are very happy with the design, quality of the work and timely follow-up communication. When we have reached out with questions, we have heard back from Matt generally the same day. We have received numerous compliments on the new design and look forward to working with this team further in the future. I would highly recommend.

  • Rolling Landscapes did a great job on my hardscape and landscape for my front porch and yard. They worked with me from design to post-installation, including: - Created a design to fit my budget - Replanted shrubs I wanted to keep to help me save money - Designed and installed a walkway, planting beds, and pavers for porch steps and landing - Recommended a great fabricator for my porch railings - Professional and polite installation crews - Visited post-installation to discuss a watering plan to keep my new plants healthy I'm very happy with their work and get lots of compliments on my new hardscape and landscape!
